Ladder awards celebrate apprentices

The Ladder for the Black Country Apprenticeship Awards return for their third edition in November.

Entries for the 13 categories are now open with the deadline September 13.

The awards will be taking place this year at West Bromwich Albion’s Hawthorns ground on November 13.

Kevin Davis, chairman of The Ladder Foundation, said: “I am delighted that with our media partners and sponsors, we are able to celebrate all things apprenticeships with this our third Ladder Awards in the Black Country.

“This support is typical of the Ladder’s unique partnerships with media, training providers and employers, formed 10 years ago with the goal of promoting of apprenticeships, as a means for social mobility.

“All those who have supported the Ladder brand, can look back with pride at the impact made.

“The Ladder Apprenticeship Foundation has, championed the mobility of learners , young and old, through education new skills and work, what our patron would term, a ‘Ladder of opportunity’.

“We have shown how a diversity of apprenticeships, and the appropriate support and promotion, is a key rung towards a more mobile society.”

The awards are backed by the Express & Star which features the Ladder for the Black Country throughout the year.

Compass UK and Ireland is the headline sponsor for the awards which include apprentice categories for: construction and property industries; engineering and manufacturing; health, education and care; professional services; tech, digital and creative industries and hospitality, retail, tourism and travel.

There are also awards for employers and training providers.

Mr Davis added: “2024 marks the tenth year of the Ladder apprenticeship campaigns coming under our stewardship with now over 10,000 apprenticeships created.

“These awards celebrate not just these achievements, but the achievement of apprentices, good employers and good training providers.”
