Jonathan Foot, the head of apprenticeships and early careers for Compass Group UK & Ireland explained that the group operates
in more than 5,000 locations right across the UK and Ireland – providing export catering, cleaning and facilities management service to a range of clients and sectors.
In the UK and Ireland Compass employs tens of thousands of talented people providing tasty, well cooked food and support services to improve the health and wellbeing of workers, school children, hospital patients, the military and visitors to the nation’s major sports and cultural events.
Mr Foot said “Earlier this year, we launched Xcelerate with Edgbaston. This is a state of the-art facility, providing front of house, back of house, facilities management and IT digital solution training for budding chefs and hospitality professionals of the future.
“This regional community skills and learning hub is equipped with cutting-edge technology allowing people to train with the latest in
novations to provide customers and clients with great food and great service.
“We want to take a lead in training up the chefs, event managers, receptionists, baristas and facilities managers of the future and showcase the hospitality sector as a great place to work, explained Mr Foot.
The Xcelerate project is a joint initiative with Edgbaston, Levy UK+I and Compass.
It aligns with mutual goals to power local communities, notably by reinforcing Compass’s Mission to a Million, a campaign aiming to impact one million lives by 2000.
“These awards bring to life our commitment to supporting careers and the local community and we are delighted to be involved,” added Mr Foot.
