With most 16-year-olds finishing their GCSE exams over the next two weeks, there’s a huge temptation to leave making decisions about the future until at least results day in August.
Hundreds of people start apprenticeships in Staffordshire every year. With more than 70 subjects at different levels up to Level 7, apprenticeships give the learner the chance to be employed and secure a wage while learning on the job.
Justine Johnson, manager of the Ladder for Staffordshire, said: “Whatever you think your results might be, now’s the time to scope out the apprenticeships out there and apply – don’t wait.
“The majority of apprenticeship applications can be found on the gov.uk website through its Find An Apprenticeship Service.
“To apply for a position, you will need to create an account which will be used to apply for vacancies and monitor your application progress.
“Alternatively, contact an employer directly and we can help the employer source a suitable training provider.
“Many employers are planning and allocating roles to start in September.”
